The Drake Public Library is gearing up for our Scholastic Book Fair March 10 – 15. The annual book fair is a fundraiser for the library. Patrons can buy hardcovers, paperbacks, posters, stickers and other reading related items from the sale. The library receives a portion of the sales to use to purchase new books for the library.
The library is hosting a Minecraft Saturday on March 22. The event is open to all ages. Crafts, snacks and Minecraft tips will be shared that day. Call JeNel at 641-856-6676 for more information or to register to attend.
Pay those fines
The library is open to all ages, races and walks of life. However, if a person has an unpaid fine greater than $3, that person may not be allowed to use a public access computer or check out additional items. The library also turns delinquent accounts over to a collection agency in an attempt to collect payment for lost items. It is the most unpleasant part of the librarian job, but enforcing this rule ensures that the library retains items for everyone to use.
American Girl dolls
Don’t forget the library now has three American Girl dolls available for use. Come in and sign up to borrow one. Dolls may be checked out for a two-week period. Felicity, Cecile, and Marie-Grace are the dolls that are on the loaning program.
Used materials accepted
Spring cleaning? We accept used books and magazines. We sell the books in our book nook sale room and we have a free shelf for magazines.
