The Friends of the Ericson Public Library have supported the library in so many ways. If you are looking for a way to contribute to the library, consider becoming a Friends member. The library needs the support of the Friends because state and local funding are not enough to support all of the library’s wonderful programs. Therefore, the library still relies heavily on private donations and support from the Friends group.
The Friends are committed to helping improve the library’s facilities, programs and services.
Friends have funded, in full or in part the following:
• Annual reading programs.
• Baby packets for parents and newborns.
• Online research databases and Zinio (eMagazines).
• WILBOR, (eBooks and eAudiobooks) and Tumblebooks.
• Movie license.
• Book discussion books and large print books.
The Friends provide many of the “fun” things patrons enjoy at the library, and the library is extremely appreciative. In the past the Friends have purchased a new Thomas the Tank Engine train table for the children’s department. All of the performers and prizes for the summer library programs are purchased with funds provided by the Friends.
The Friends have also recently purchased more environmentally friendly book bags for use.
The Friends established an Endowment Fund to insure quality library service for future generations. Consider the Friends for charitable donations.
It’s easy to join the Friends. You can join by picking up an application at any library desk.
You may also want to check out the Friends annual book sale held in October, check out the spring mini-sale or stop by and check out the ongoing booksale on the second floor of the library where you can find books, movies, music and puzzles. The sales are full of bargains, and the money you spend benefits the library.
As a Friend, you’ll receive:
• Early admission to the annual book sale.
• A charitable tax receipt.
• Opportunities to get involved with an interesting and friendly group of people.
But most of all, you’ll be a Friend to a very important group in your community, your public library.
