Emmett Wesley Eckhart, Sr., 85, of San Felipe, Texas, formerly of Boone, passed away, Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Sealy, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, at the Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street in Boone from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street in Boone.

Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.

Emmett was born on January 3, 1929 in Ringsted, Iowa to parents, Everett J. and Emily G. Winter Eckhart. The family moved to Boone, Iowa in September of 1939 and Emmett graduated from Boone High School in 1946.

Emmett served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1952. He belonged to the IOOF Lodge #492, Encampment #26, Canton #8, Reberah # 301 and was a member of Y Indian Guides for 13 years. He worked for Kemble Smith Green House for 10 years and in 1956 for Hallett’s Construction for 28 years.

Emmett married Patricia Mae Brown on September 11, 1957 in Boone, Iowa and to this union was born four sons and one daughter. Emmett moved to Wallis in 1981 and from there to San Felipe in 1989.

Emmett is survived by his son Emmett Wesley Eckhart, Jr. (Debbie) of Altus, Oklahoma; his son Kenneth Eugene Eckhart of San Felipe, Texas; his son Richard Leon Eckhart (Carmen) of Sealy, Texas; his daughter Kathleen Marie Eckhart King (David) of Chula Vista, California; his 2 grandchildren, Katlyn and Rachael Cieslewicz and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia Eckhart, his son Francis Everett Eckhart, his sister Pearl Rickie, his 3 brothers Emery, Oiris and Louis Eckhart and a great grandchild.

The visitation at the Knesek Funeral Chapel located at 768 Fourth St. in Sealy, Texas 77474, will be held Wednesday, February 19, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
