Ames High School Presidential Scholar Candidates

Posted February 18, 2014 in Ames, Community Blogs

Five Ames High School seniors have been selected as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program.  Maria MacIntosh, Paul Opheim, Kenneth Slagell, Kerui Tan, and Christina Zhao join the ranks of about 3,000 students nationwide who’ve been invited to compete as semifinalists for the award, which is based on exceptional scholarship, leadership and involvement in school and community.

To advance, students will complete candidacy materials that include essays, self-assessments, and school transcripts. The national field of about 560 Semifinalists will be announced in April, and about 141 Scholars will be announced in May.
