Therese Campbell

We truly lost one of a kind on Friday, February 7, 2014 when Therese Campbell passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 79. A Rosary Service will be at 5 p.m., Monday, February 10 at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd. in Clive with visitation to follow from 5:30 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Therese was a lifelong resident of Valley Junction and graduated from Valley High School in 1952. She was employed at Meredith Publishing for many years before becoming a homemaker. After her family was raised, Therese became a caregiver to others for over 20 years.

Therese will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren’s many activities. It could be said “her grandchildren were the jewels in her crown.” Therese was a constant cheerleader for everyone and was known also as a dance grandma. Music and dance were a large part of her life that she was able to share with her family and friends.

She had a quirky sense of humor, loved to tell jokes and was the life of every party. Therese was strong in her faith and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 60 years and loved to sing in the Traditional Choir. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Lorrie Campbell (Vince Rubino) and Steve Campbell; grandchildren, Charlee Campbell-Slaughter (Jason), Chloe Campbell and Cassidy Campbell; great-grandchild, Rocco Slaughter; half-sister, Diane Rabello; extended family of Frances LePera, Ronnie LePera, Cheryl Lang, Jeff and Kathy Dumermuth and by numerous family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Campbell; son, Craig Campbell; parents, Vern and Rose Roper; and extended family, Al and Mary LePera and Jerry LePera.

Memorials may be directed to Silvercrest at the Woodlands, Hospice of Central Iowa or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
