Magic show is coming

Professional magicians from the Quad Cities Magic Club will visit Waukee for a Fabulous Family Friendly Magic Show on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m. Throughout the month of February, advance tickets will be on sale at the library for $5 each. Children 2 and younger are free. A limited space pre-show magic class, starting at 6 p.m., will also be available for youth ages 8 – 18 for $15. Proceeds from ticket sales will help fund the Summer Reading Program. Tickets at the door the day of the show will be $8.

Join the Friends
Get involved. The Friends of the Waukee Public Library raise money and awareness for your library. Friends conduct semi-annual book sales, plan events, support the library’s summer reading program and volunteer their time, money and talents for the good of our community. You are invited to support your library and attend the annual meeting and potluck on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6 pm.  Table service and beverages will be provided. Please call 987-1280 if you can attend.

February Children’s Weekly Programs
Babies & Books. For infants birth to 18 months with a caregiver, 15 – 20 minutes of songs, books and rhymes, followed by playtime.  Mondays, 10 a.m.

Toddlertime. For toddlers up to 3 years with a caregiver, 20 minutes of songs, fingerplays and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m.

Preschool Storytime. For children 3 to 6 with a caregiver, 30 minutes of read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes, followed by a related craft. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m.

Pajama Time. For all ages.  Bring your teddy and wear your jammies. Bedtime stories, songs, rhymes and a craft. Thursdays, 6:45 p.m.

Reading Under the Stars.  Kids in grades 1 – 3, attend this special book club and participate in activities that correspond to the books we read. Kids who attend will help decide what we read. Thursdays, 6:45 – 7:30 p.m. Will not meet Feb. 6.

February Children’s Special Programs
“Star Wars” Celebration. All ages of “Star Wars” fans are invited to come to the library to train like a Jedi, enjoy a tasty treat and make a light saber and Yoda puppet.  You may even meet some of your favorite characters. Costumes are encouraged. Saturday, Feb. 8, 1 – 2 p.m.

Chess Club. Elementary school students — learn how to play chess. Saturday, Feb. 15, 1 – 3 p.m. Registration requested.
