DES MOINES, Iowa –Jan. 7, 2014–The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA), with local affiliate Wellness Council of Iowa, recently presented its coveted Platinum Well Workplace Award to WesleyLife. WesleyLife is the first health and well-being service provider for older adults in the state to receive the award. The Platinum Well Workplace Award recognizes an organization for its commitment to the health and well-being of their employees.
By achieving the Well Workplace Award, WesleyLife has made a long-lasting commitment to the health and well-being of its employees, according to WELCOA president David Hunnicutt, “Good companies know that their employees are their most valuable asset. Great companies adopt policies that support employees’ efforts to reduce health risks and are bold about motivating them through bold strategies, programs, and tactics,” he said. “Great companies know that by improving their employees’ health, they can reduce health care costs.”
WesleyLife encourages not only its residents and clients to stay healthy and seek preventive measures, but offers programs for its own team members as well. “We lead by example when it comes to health and well-being,” says Rob Kretzinger, WesleyLife President and CEO. “We know–and research proves–healthier team members mean happier team members interacting with older adults empowering their own personal health and well-being while creating meaningful relationships.”
Well-being is engrained into the WesleyLife culture. On-site fitness centers and weekly devotionals are just a couple of ways WesleyLife promotes spirit, mind and body well-being in the work place every day.
The Well Workplace Awards initiative is driven by a rigorous set of criteria outlined in WELCOA’s seven benchmarks to a result-oriented Well Workplace. Since its inception in 1991, over 1,000 organizations, ranging from educational institutions to non-profit and profit sectors have joined the list of “America’s Healthiest Companies” by receiving the Well Workplace Award. “WesleyLife worked hard to successfully meet the rigorous standards set by the Well Workplace process. It is our pleasure to recognize them as the newest Iowa employer to achieve Well Workplace status” said Wellness Council of Iowa’s Executive Director, Craig Hanken.
