Rosemary Sampson

Rosemary Ann Fausch was born on January 21, 1929 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, to Elida Reinertson Fausch and Arthur J. Fausch. She attended Kelley Community School, North Grant School and graduated as Valedictorian from Roland High School in 1946. She married Robert E. Sampson on October 22, 1949 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa. Bob and Rosemary farmed in the Roland, Gilbert and Madrid areas until Bob’s retirement in 1982. They lived the rest of their lives in Ames.

Besides being a loving housewife, farmwife and devoted mother and grandmother, Rosemary was employed as the office and business manager for the Central Iowa Mental Health Center for 25 years and also worked part-time at JC Penney for 15 years, retiring fully in 1999. She enjoyed her past memberships in NSA, PSI, AWBA, CIMHC Secretaries Group, the Ames Women’s Club and she was a member of the Legion Auxiliary Post No. 37. She was a long-time member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley and also Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Her other interests included gardening, sewing, reading and her special love for animals. But her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren and being actively involved in their lives.

Rosemary A. Sampson, 84, died on December 24, 2013 at Bethany Manor in Story City, Iowa.

Rosemary is lovingly survived by her four children: Kirk (Lisa) Sampson of Cherokee, Iowa; Leslie (Brad) Stewart of Silver Spring, Maryland; Lisa (Jim) Sorenson of Ames, Iowa; and Leanne (Phil) Scheiber of New Prague, Minnesota. In addition, Rosemary was the proud grandmother of seven grandsons: Jared Sorenson and Justin Sorenson of Ames, Iowa, Nolan Sampson and Benjamin Sampson of Cherokee, Iowa, Andrew Scheiber of New Prague, Minnesota, Ken (Lacy) Scheiber of Leonardtown, Maryland and Greg Scheiber of Northford, Connecticut.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bob in October, 1992, three sisters, Lois Skromme, Jan Amme and Doris Alleman and her brother, Wayne Martin.
