It’s snowy, it’s blowy — it’s time to stop by your Waukee Public Library for a book, movie or audio to help pass the cold winter days.
Winter Family Reading Program
There’s still time to take part in the WPL winter reading program. Families with children of all ages are invited to participate through Jan. 15. The family that reads the most together will win a free pizza dinner. Pick up your registration, reading logs and pizza-scented bookmarks at the library or download forms from the library’s web site, www.waukee.lib.ia.us.
Author visit – Mike Pace
You likely know Mike Pace from his years on Iowa radio and TV. He will appear at Waukee Public Library to promote his new book, “Dreams and Detours: Reflecting on the Souvenirs of a Lifetime…” on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. Books will be available for purchase.
Join the Friends
Get involved. The Friends of the Waukee Public Library raise money and awareness for your library. Friends conduct semi-annual book sales, plan events, support the library’s summer reading program and volunteer their time, money and talents for the good of our community. Pick up a membership application in the Friends Book Nook or on the library website. Annual memberships start at $7. The Friends Annual Potluck is coming up Tuesday, Feb. 4, and you’re invited.
Tax time is coming
Starting Jan. tax forms will be available as the IRS sends them to us. Tax forms are also available at www.irs.gov and www.state.ia.us/tax. Paper versions of many tax forms are no longer available, but may be obtained online. Your library has 10 public Internet computers available if you wish to file on line.
