The new year is fast approaching. Have you made resolutions for yourself? Exercise more? Eat better? What about gain control of your finances?

Has your financial situation made the resolution list? Whether you are financially secure or struggle each month to make ends meet, the MoneyLife Personal Finance Study being offered at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona is for you.

The MoneyLife study from Crown Financial ( is intended to help you find hope, grow in generosity, ditch debt, create a reasonable financial plan, make confident financial decisions, develop new attitudes and habits related to money and possessions, save and invest for the future and be able to teach your children wisely about finances.

This study is open to anyone, whether or not Lutheran Church of the Cross is your church home. It offers a fresh new way to learn financial principles. During the classes, you will meet with a small group of people to learn, participate in video-based studies, hear real stories of those who have gone through the course and be able to implement what you are learning right away.

Lutheran Church of the Cross has offered Crown Financial studies several times in the past five years. These studies combine practical exercises along with a Biblical perspective of money and finances.

The MoneyLife study also includes powerful, easy-to-use online tools to help you understand, plan and manage your finances. One of our previous participants has this to say about her experience with a Crown Financial class:

“Before taking the course, I felt that my financial situation controlled my life. I didn’t feel like I was able to make my own decisions as to how to use my money. During the course I found I could be the one in charge — I could control my finances rather than the other way around.”

Lutheran Church of the Cross will be offering the course at three different times beginning in early January:
Wednesdays (beginning Jan. 8) from 6:30 – 8 pm (for eight weeks).
Sundays (beginning Jan. 12) from 1 – 2:30 pm (for 10 weeks).
Mondays (beginning Jan. 13) from 6:30 – 8 pm (for 10 weeks).
