The community is invited to attend Alpha Class offered at NewLife Church.

NewLife Church, located at 6036 N.E. 12th Ave. in Pleasant Hill, would like to invite residents of Pleasant Hill and the surrounding communities to join them in their upcoming Alpha Class. This series of meetings allow people to connect — or reconnect — with God and explore life’s big questions in a non-threatening setting with a group of their peers.

According to Pastor Scott Brady, this is the second year the church has offered the Alpha classes.

“We had great success last year and have taken what we learned from that experience to make this year’s offering even better,” Brady says.  “We are a church that is based in God’s words. We welcome, accept and embrace everyone for who they are, and offering these classes allows us to open our doors wide to the community.”

The classes will be held weekly starting on Monday, March 10. The first class is titled “Is There More to Life than This?” and will be held from 6 – 8:15 p.m. The classes run for 10 weeks total. Each week the class begins with a group meal catered by one of the parishioners. This time provides meeting attendees the opportunity to have a casual conversation and get to know one another. Dinner is followed by a lesson taught by Pastor Scott Brady or Assistant Pastor Roger Gausman. The idea is to help each of the attendees learn more about Christianity and gain a better understanding of their personal relationship with God. After each lesson, all participants break up into smaller groups to discuss the lesson openly and freely.

The Alpha Class at NewLife Church also includes a mini weekend retreat that will focus specifically on the Holy Spirit — who he is and how he fits into our lives today. There will also be extended fellowship and a session of “Ask the Pastor” which will allow participants to write down an anonymous question the pastor answers aloud for the entire group.

If you would like more information about the classes or want to register to attend, you can send a message to or call the church directly at (515) 299-5433.
