Dallas County Conservation Board Public Programming- Special Event

Posted December 18, 2013 in Adel, Community Web Exclusives, Grimes, Perry, Waukee

A quinzee is a simple shelter made by hollowing out a big pile of snow and is a cross between an igloo and a snow cave. This shelter is especially useful when the snow conditions are not ideal for building an igloo and when there is not enough deep packed snow for a snow cave. A quinzee, is warmer than a tent and a ton of FUN to build. Since we don’t know when we’ll have enough snow to build, this is an on-call program. That means you sign up for the program, give us your email and we’ll email you to let you know we’ll be building that coming weekend. If you do not have an email, we will give you a call.

Registration is required for this free program.
