Visit the library to sign up for a 10-minute slot to read a favorite story to therapy dog Scout.  on Saturday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. Sharing stories with Scout is a fantastic way to practice reading skills and make a furry friend at the same time.

Free Advice for Your Device

Get the lowdown on the library’s downloadables. Bring your mobile device (smartphone, tablet or e-reader) to get advice and help installing the library’s apps for e-books, downloadable audiobooks and e-magazines. The class and apps are all free. Your gadget must have basic setup done (out of the box, set up, passwords entered, charged and know the basics) as a prerequisite to this class. You will need your library card and PIN, and you may need the password for your App Store on your device. Pre-register.

Afternoon Book Discussion

We will be discussing “Annie’s Ghosts” by Steve Luxenberg. Copies of the book are available at the information desk.

Volunteens
Monday, Jan. 6, 4 p.m.
Teens can volunteer their time to help out with various library projects. Please stop by the library for an application form, and have it signed by a parent or guardian prior to your first meeting.

Beginnings Music for Children
Monday, Jan. 13, 6:30 p.m.
Join Barb Klubal from the Iowa Youth Chorus’ Beginnings Early Childhood Music Program for singing, dancing and instrument playing, and learn how music benefits the young child. This program is for children ages 3 to 6 and requires preregistration.

Baby Rhyme Time
Tuesdays, 10:15 a.m.
Ages infant-18 months. Occurs weekly for babies and their caregivers, featuring rhymes, songs, and bounces followed by a period of free play.

Crafty Readers
Tuesdays, 4 p.m.
Toddler, preschool and elementary school age readers can take part in fun craft activities.
