Phillip Elroy Rosenbaum, 83, of Perry, Iowa, passed away December 5, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa due to complications following surgery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Granger, Iowa. Private burial will be at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter, Iowa.

Phillip was born May 10, 1930 in Fremont, Nebraska, the son of Elroy and Augusta (Mavis) Rosenbaum. He grew up in Arlington, Nebraska and worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a telegrapher. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 22, 1952 he was united in marriage to Joy Trierweiler. Phillip worked over 25 years for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa, residing in Urbandale, Grimes, Granger, and settling in Perry in 2009.

Phil enjoyed camping and spending winters in Alamo, Texas. He was a proud fifty year member of the Masons and Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Kaaba Shrine in Davenport, Iowa.

Phil is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joy; four children, Rebecca (Billy) Foley of Urbandale, IA, Roberta (Rio) Thompson of Dallas Center, IA, Aaron (Trudy) Rosenbaum of Granger, IA and Keith (Sheryl) Rosenbaum of Perry, IA; five grandchildren, Anne M. Porcelli, Todd A. Foley, Danielle L. Conway, Dyllan M. Rosenbaum and Wyatt A. Rosenbaum; five great grandchildren, Bella R. Porcelli, Hayden A. Foley, Giada R. Porcelli, Lauren A. Porcelli and Anthony R. Porcelli; and a sister, Donna Mae Wulf of Arlington, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Daniel Conway, sister-in-law, Gladys Albaugh, and brother-in-law, Clifford Wulf.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Iles Brandt Dallas Center Chapel is handling arrangements and online condolences are welcome at
