Funeral services for Cheryl Bral, age 56, of Manilla will be Friday, December 13, 2013, at the United Church of Manilla in Manilla, with Pastor Angie Loomis, officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the United Church of Manilla. Prerecorded musical selections will include: “See You Again” by Carrie Underwood; “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton; “My Girl” by The Temptations and “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” Rod Stewart. Urn bearer will be Matt Bral. Honorary bearers will be Bill Simonsen, Jeff Simonsen and Kyle Stribe. Interment will be at a later date in the Nishnabotna Cemetery.
Cheryl’s family respectfully requests that all gifts be in the form of memorial donations to the Manilla First Responders.
Cheryl Rae, daughter of Albert Henry and Marilyn Mae (Chapman) Woebke, was born July 26, 1957, at Denison, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm near Manilla and graduated from Manilla High School in 1975. She then worked at the Manilla Manor.
On September 8, 1979, Cheryl was united in marriage with Galen Bral at the Presbyterian Church in Manilla. One son was born to this union. Cheryl and Galen made their home in Manilla and Cheryl continued working at the Manilla Manor as a Certified Medication Assistant and Certified Restorative Assistant until 1999. She was then employed by Denison Physical Therapy until 2006 when she began working for Crawford County Home Health and Hospice as a billing secretary.
Cheryl was a longtime member of the 1st Presbyterian Church (now United Church of Manilla) where she enjoyed attending WEBS-Wednesday Evening Bible Study. She also was very active with the Crawford County Relay for Life. Cheryl enjoyed doing cross stitch, watching birds and squirrels, flower gardening-especially wild geraniums, and watching Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes football. She was also a NASCAR fan and followed Dale Earnhart Jr. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her granddaughter Avery.
In November of 2012, Cheryl was diagnosed with cancer. On Sunday, December 8, 2013, she passed away at her home in Manilla, Iowa, at the age of fifty-six years.
Cheryl was survived by: her husband Galen Bral of Manilla; a son Matt Bral and wife Erica of Clive, and their daughter Avery; two sisters: Nancy Simonsen of Manilla and Caryl Stribe and husband Curt of Manning; a brother Neal Woebke and wife Beverly of Irwin; several nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law Lorraine Bral of Denison and a brother-in-law Jim Bral and wife Joanie of Schleswig.
