The holidays are in full swing in Perry

Posted December 04, 2013 in Community Featured, Perry

I hope you have enjoyed the last few articles written by our Chamber Board President Misty VonBehren.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you to the 2013 Chamber Board of Directors for all their hard work put forth this year to help promote Perry and its businesses. 2014 is sure to be an exciting year with Mark Powell stepping into the president’s seat. Thank you to Misty and Shawn Kenney for serving as president and past president this year. This is a volunteer board, and without the board of directors and the countless hours they put toward the Chamber programs it wouldn’t be nearly the success it is. We are currently looking to fill a board position. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact the Chamber office.

The holidays are in full swing, and so is the Chamber. We have lots to celebrate. This has been an extremely busy but great year. Make sure to support our local businesses during this time of year and, for that matter, all year.

Perry Fine Arts will be sponsoring “The 3 Amigos” with KC Mariachi Band in a program of Latin music on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Perry High School Performing Arts Center. This concert is free and open to the public.

Las Posadas will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. This event is brought to us by Hispanics United for Perry and celebrates a traditional Hispanic Christmas event. The procession starts at St. Pat’s Church at 6 p.m. and is followed by fiesta at the Methodist Church. For more information please contact HUP at 515-490-2298.

Once again,  there will be a free Community Christmas Dinner brought to you by a number of generous volunteers on Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. This event is free to the public  If you would like to volunteer, please call 515-465-3740. If you would like to donate cookies or some sort of dessert please just bring those items to the Elks on the Dec. 25. Thank you to all the people who make this event so special.

Don’t forget Perry Bucks for this holiday season. Perry Bucks can be used just like cash at all Chamber member businesses.  This is a great way to keep your dollars local and support our businesses. Perry Bucks come in increments of $5 and $10 and can be purchased at the Chamber office, 1102 Willis Ave.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and staff wish you and your loved ones, happy holidays and remind you to shop Perry first.
