William “Bill” Walden, 96, of Des Moines passed away November 27, 2013.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (420 S.E. Watrous) in Des Moines.
Bill was born October 11, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937. He went on to Iowa State University where he earned a degree in Architectural Engineering.
He was baptized June 17, 1942 as a minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He entered the full time service in 1946 and served as a pioneer, a missionary for 15 years, and a congregation elder until his death.
In 1948 he graduated from Gilead and received an assignment as a missionary to Ghana, Africa.
Bill married Eva Hallquist who was also a graduate of Gilead School and they served together in Ghana for 11 years.
After Eva’s death, Bill married Betty Miller, on August 6, 1990.
Bill enjoyed gardening, especially planting and raising roses.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, two step children, Candee Johnson and Steve Miller, Grandchildren, and Great-Grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice, and his first wife Eva.
