See a sneak preview of the Des Moines Community Playhouse production of “Peter Pan” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Franklin Avenue Library. This enchanting musical version full of high-flying adventure is the perfect holiday classic. Come and enjoy the performance, and sign up to win free tickets to the play.

We’ll discuss “The Sense of an Ending” by Julian Barnes. Copies of the book are available at the information desk.

Join the Franklin Library Volunteens. Volunteer your time to help out with various library projects. Please stop by the library for an application form and have it signed by a parent or guardian prior to your first meeting.

Healthy Holiday Snacks

Jump start your holiday plans by attending Healthy Holiday Snacks. Anne Cundiff, RD, LD from Hy-Vee will demonstrate making snacks perfect for a healthy celebration. Hy-Vee will be providing free samples and handouts of the recipes. Please register to ensure we have plenty of snacks for everyone.

Free Advice for Your Device

Get the lowdown on your library’s downloadables. Bring your mobile device (smartphone, tablet or e-reader) to one of our classes and get some advice and help installing the library’s apps for e-books, downloadable audiobooks and e-magazines. Classes and apps are all free. Your gadget must have basic setup done (out of the box, set up, passwords entered, charged and know the basics) as a prerequisite to this class. You will need your library card and PIN, and you may need the password for your App Store on your device. Pre-register.
