Thank you to all members who joined the City of Waukee on Friday, Nov. 1, for the groundbreaking of Alice’s Road, University to Ashworth. Waukee Mayor Bill Peard welcomed more than 150 guests as well as Gov. Terry Branstad, Senator Charles Grassley, Senator Tom Harkin and Congressman Tom Latham to help celebrate the beginning of construction on this major infrastructural project. Thanks to city leadership including the mayor and council for your tremendous work to move this project forward. Special thank you to city staff including Tim Moerman, Becky Schuett, Dan Dutcher, Brad Deets and Ben Landhauser for your hard work on this project and for organizing a fantastic groundbreaking event for Waukee.
The 2013 West Side Legislative Breakfast was held at the Windsor Heights Community and Events Center on Wednesday, Nov. 13. More than 70 members attended from the Waukee, West Des Moines, Clive and Windsor Heights Chambers of Commerce. Speakers included Representatives Peter Cownie, Chris Hagenow and Rob Taylor and State Senators Jake Chapman, Matt McCoy and Charles Schneider. Thank you to all members who attended.
Upcoming December events to mark your calendar for:
• The Waukee Public Library Festival of Lights tree lighting ceremony will be held at the library on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. The Waukee Chamber will have a tree decorated, showcasing our membership. Bring your family, enjoy some treats, and vote for your favorite tree.
• Waukee Chamber Networking Luncheon at the Waukee Community Center on Thursday, Dec. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Enjoy a holiday meal and network with fellow Chamber members. Cost is $20 in advance and $25 for day of registration. Please RSVP to www.waukeechamber.com/registration. Proceeds from this event will be presented to local Waukee charities.
