Come one, Come all to Merry Olde England circa 1475 and join in on feasting and revelry as the Johnston High School Choirs present the 34th Annual Madrigal Feaste.
The Feaste will be held Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7 at the Great Hall of Johnston High School, 6501 NW 62nd Street, Johnston. Door open at 6:45 and the fun begins at 7:30 p.m. It will be held rain, shine or snow. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased electronically by mid-November at http://johnston-vpa.myshopify.com/products/madrigal-tickets.
The Madrigal Feaste is indeed a feast for the eyes, ears, and stomach. The Great Hall will be transformed into a medieval castle where guests will dine on a five-course meal served by period- costumed peasants. The Royal Court will entertain the crowd with spirited drama, merriment, and dancing. Costumed choristers and minstrels will sing and play songs of the Renaissance while Wassail and Flaming Puddings are served, and the traditional Boar’s Head processes through the Great Hall.
The Johnston High School choirs have presented the Madrigal Feaste at the beginning of each holiday season since 1979. Choir directors Eric Shepard and Wendy Haight will direct the 34nd annual celebration. The JHS Chamber Choirs and Concert Choir present the pageantry. In addition, the Johnston Middle School ninth grade Chamber Choir will entertain the crowd at the beginning of the event. The event is hosted and supported by the Johnston High School Vocal Parents Association.
