Doris Jean Liebbe, 85, went to be with The Lord on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Kavanagh House, after a 3-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Doris was born on March 6, 1928 in Keokuk Iowa, to Carl and Esther (Nelson) Dunn. She had one brother, William Dunn. Doris married Jacob (Jake) Alexander Liebbe on September 26, 1948 after the two met while working at Northwestern Bell Telephone. They were married for 58 years, and had four children. Besides spending time with family, Doris was an active member of the West Des United Moines Methodist Church. She was involved in many organizations at her church, including Wedding Coordination, Circle, Bereavement Committee, and Special Events. Outside of the church, she was involved in Tri-T for many years. Doris also helped with Found Treasures and The Discovery Shop. She enjoyed giving her time to help others. Survivors include her four children, Steven Liebbe of West Des Moines, Debra (Gary) Reed of Clive, Cynthia (Mark) Stadtlander of Winterset, and Todd (Anna) Liebbe of Larkspur, CO; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews, and a special family friend Joy Stevens. She was preceded in death by her husband Jake, brother William, and granddaughter Libbie. Memorial service will be on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church at 720 Grand Ave., West Des Moines, IA, 50265. Visitation will start at 10:00 am with the funeral service starting at 11:00 am. Luncheon will follow. Memorials may be directed to the West Des Moines United Methodist Church (720 Grand Ave., West Des Moines, IA 50265) or Kavanagh House (900 56th St., Des Moines, IA 50312).
