Thelma Carter, age 74, of 2003 Cedar Street, died November 13, 2013, at the Boone County Hospital.
She has been cremated and there will be no visitation or memorial services.
Thelma Ann Carter was born in Boone on March 6, 1939, the daughter of Aaron and Faye (Smelcer) Crook.
On December 30, 1955, Thelma married Robert Carter in Boone.
For 25 years, she worked at Bourns in Ames.
Thelma then worked at the Boone County Hospital in the kitchen and lastly as a housekeeper at the Evangelical Free Church Home.
Thelma was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #817.
She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans, and putting puzzles together.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Janice Sayers, Lois Corbin, Dorothy Sunstrom, and Doris Phillips, brothers Gerald Crook, John Crook, and Gene Crook.
She is survived by her husband Robert of Boone; a son Jerry Carter and wife Connie of Boone; a daughter Jeanette Thomas and husband Donald of Ames; two brothers Chester Crook of Arkansas and Bill Crook of Ogden; a sister Sharon Hathaway of Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Staci Harris, Adam Thomas, Amanda Carter, Dale Carter, and Colton; five great grandchildren: Logan and Seth Thomas, Auston Tolan, and Ethan and Parker Harris.
