Robert V Wolf (Bob), 77, of Ankeny, IA passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 13, 2013 in the arms of his wife Gini while at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Bob and Gini were supported in the final months by Care Initiatives and Mercy Hospice.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) on Sunday November 17, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5 :00 p.m. A Celebration of Life mass will be held at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny at 10:30am on Monday November 18, 2013. Interment will take place at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, WI on Saturday November 30, 2013.
Bob was born in Chicago, IL to Helene (Betty) and Edward Wolf Sr. on May 31, 1936. He married Margaret Wertzler in 1959. Bob served in the Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Margaret and Bob had two children, Linda M. and Robert Wolf Jr. Bob was employed in Chicago by Time-DC as a terminal manager. In 1971 the family moved to Milwaukee, WI where Bob was employed as Assistant to the General Manager of Transpersonnel, a division of Manpower, Inc.
In 1982, Bob moved to Ankeny, IA. He married Virginia (Gini) Berg-Yach on October 15, 1983. After relocating, Bob worked for Pulley Freight, owned the Old World Deli & Catering in Ankeny, and retired from Wonder-Hostess in 1998.
Bob was an avid sportsman. He loved golf, fishing, hunting, and boating. The annual deer hunting season in Wisconsin with his grandsons was especially important to him. When not fishing or hunting, he faithfully managed the errands and cooking during Gini’s working years. In retirement Bob greatly enjoyed coffee time with his friends at Burger King and Woody’s Garage. He and Gini participated for many years in volunteer activities with Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart parish, CEW, the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women- Residents Encounter Christ, Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, AARP, the Center for Social Ministry, Just Faith, Connection Café, and Wesley Life Hospice. The women of the REC community at ICCW held a special place in his heart for over 25 years.
He is survived by his wife Virginia B Wolf (Gini), his children Linda (Bill) Baxa of Independence, WI and Bob (Marilou) Wolf of Virginia Beach, VA, and stepson Steven (Maria) Yach of Yorba Linda, CA. Grandchildren are Lauren, Daryl, and Taylor Baxa; Amanda and Eric Wolf; Christopher, Adam and Stefan Yach.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Edward Wolf Jr.
