Ankeny, Iowa, November 12, 2013. The Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce has launched a special program titled “Smitten for Mittens” this holiday season in its efforts to rally local businesses and patrons together to serve the Ankeny community.
“Smitten for Mittens” begins on Friday, November 15th and will continue through January, 3, 2014. Community members are encouraged to drop off new pairs of mittens or gloves to the Chamber office during regular business hours. The Ankeny Area Chamber office is located at 210. South Ankeny Blvd. All mittens and gloves will be donated to Ankeny Community Education to be distributed through the Ankeny Service Center, The Ankeny Klothing Exchange (TAKE) Program and the Ankeny Community School District.
“We are proud to be a connecting point between our local businesses and those in need,” states Kevin Harrington, 2013 Chamber President and owner of Leaning Tower of Pizza. “It’s important to remember that people in need are our friends, neighbors, and co-workers. We’ve got to show our support through a helping hand all year long.”
