Members of Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue, Clive, Iowa, collected 1,307 items and donated $2,584.50 for the food pantries run by the Des Moines Area Religious Council during October 2013.

The food collection drive was done by the Matthew 25 Outreach Ministry Team at the church. They encouraged members of the congregation to bring food and hygiene items. The items are donated to all area pantries while the money is used to buy food at wholesale prices.

Members of the Sunday school classes also participated in the drive by learning about hunger and bringing food.

The food drive was done in conjunction with Hunger Awareness Month, as designated by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, to which Faith Lutheran Church belongs.
