Beverly Jane Patterson, 83, died on Friday, November 1, 2013. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 600 6th Ave., Des Moines, where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bev was born on March 16, 1930, in Boone, Iowa to Warren and Thelma Handschin. Bev married Lewis Patterson in 1951 and he died in 1980. She graduated from Iowa State University and enjoyed working for Home Health Aides & Mobile Meals for several years before retiring. Bev married Ralph Patterson in 1984 and he died in 2002.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Chapter HE of PEO and Chapter D of TTT. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing bridge, and spending time with friends and family.

Bev will be missed by her daughters, Susan (David) Johnston of Cumming, GA, Ann (Leslie) Moeller of Des Moines, and Martha (Richard) Carlson of Chaska, MN; and by Ralph’s children, Ralph E. Patterson III of Ames and Mary Jo (Gary) Bingle of White Lake, MI; 14 grandchildren, Brian (Holly) Johnston, Annie Johnston, Hope Johnston, Matthew (Angee) Moeller, Stephanie (Aaron) Empey, Kelly Moeller, Mary Carlson, Katie Carlson, Stephen Carlson, Mary Beth (Alfred) Sprouse, Sarah (Jen) Bingle, Marron (Mike) Bingle-Davis, Carrie Bingle, Patrick Bingle; and 13 great grandchildren, Christopher Johnston, Matthew Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Flynn Johnston, Trey Morris, Grace Moeller, Haley Empey, Rachel Empey, Tommy Chinery, Torin Chinery, Zoe Sprouse, Jack Bingle, and Alice Ruth Bingle-Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lewis and Ralph; sister, Betty Feddersen; great grandson, Tracy Chinery; and nephew, Paul Feddersen.
