Michael “Mike” Welsh, age 84, of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died October 26, 2013, at the Home.
A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Randy Schon officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mike was born in Boone, on December 1, 1928, the son of Edward and Mary (McGlynn) Welsh.
He graduated from Story City High School in 1946.
He played guard on the football team which was undefeated in his senior year.
Mike farmed in the Mackey area.
He enjoyed raising shorthorn cattle and storytelling.
He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the New York Yankees.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Lawrence and Clement “Pat” Welsh.
He is survived by a niece JoAnn Mackey of central Florida, two nephews Gene Welsh and Bob Welsh, both of Colo; and a sister-in-law Dorothy Welsh of Colo.
He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
Friends may call at the Church of the Sacred Heart on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. where a vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m.
