Paul taught G.E.D. classes at Open Door Mission in Omaha and English as a second language to immigrants to America. In the early 1960s, Paul had joined the Peace Corps. He traveled to Dessie, Ethiopia, Africa, where he had volunteered countless hours at the ASFA Wossen Hospital, before becoming a staff physician and then the Medical Director.
He was a lifetime member of the American College of Physicians and the Nebraska Medical Society; and a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine, V.F.W. and American Legion. In 2009, Paul moved back to Des Moines. He enjoyed time with his family, friends and traveling. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his sister, Dorothy Meng of Urbandale; and several nieces and nephews including Patty Bittner and her husband, Kevin Heinzeroth of Waukee.
