Pat was born July 23, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to Earl and Mae Oneth. She was the oldest of the four girls. Pat graduated from North High School in 1955. Following graduation, she worked as a Chiropractic Assistant for Dr. Eugene Arns. Pat met her future husband, Carroll Racek, at a dance in 1962 and they were married on Carroll’s 28th birthday, January 4th, 1963. They were inseparable for 51 years. Once their youngest daughter was in high school, Pat rejoined the workforce as a Chiropractic Assistant for Dr. Roger Nyberg. When she was blessed with grandchildren she retired from the workforce to babysit and attend her grandchildren’s activities which brought great joy to her life. Pat’s immense love of Jesus, her husband, her children and grandchildren served as the foundation of her life. She loved to read and enjoyed sharing her insights about books she had read with her sisters. Pat’s journey with cancer taught us that she was anchored by the love and grace of her Savior, who carried her through the ups and downs of this terrible disease. Her unwavering faith and dignity was only possible because of her Salvation through Jesus Christ. Pat was an amazing gift to all who were blessed to know her. She wished that anyone who knew her could have the same assurance that she knew through her Salvation, that she is now in a better place, in Heaven with Jesus, without pain and happy to finally be home.
Pat is survived by her husband Carroll; two daughters, Carolyn (Rodney) Burt of rural Slater and Carrie Pearson of Algona, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Meghann (Blake) Smith of Ankeny, Katie and Taylor Burt of rural Slater, and Ryann and Brandan Pearson of St. Joseph, Iowa. Also surviving are two sisters, Joyce (David) Samo of West Des Moines and Arlene (William) Gaule of Des Moines, along with several nephews and nieces. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Darlene Jones.
Memorials may be directed to the family, for a charity of Pat’s choice.Information provided by: Ankeny Funeral Home and Crematory 1510 West First Street Ankeny, IA 50021 515.964.4674 www.ankenyfuneralhome.com
