October 2, 1922 – October 15, 2013

Gene E. Pace was born on October 2, 1922 to Ralph and Essie Pratt in New Market, Iowa. She graduated from New Market High School and attended Northeast Missouri State at Maryville. She taught school in Massena, Norwalk, and Shenandoah, Iowa. Gene married John Pace on June 22, 1946 in New Market. The couple lived in Ames for 56 years. She was a member of PEO chapter HO, I.S.U. Faculty Women’s Club, Red Friars Dance Club and many bridge clubs.

Gene passed away October 15, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids at 91 years of age.

Gene is survived by her husband, John Pace of Solon; her children, Steve (Tina) Pace of Cedar Rapids, Martha (Curtis) McCline of Sioux City and Tom (Lori) Pace of West Liberty; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and only brother, Ralph.
