Two ways to help Norwalk students coming up

Posted October 09, 2013 in Community Featured, Norwalk

Norwalk will be the Warren County host for the Simon Estes Roots and Wings concert on Sunday, Oct. 20 with pre-show entertainment at 1:30 p.m. and the main event starting at 2 p.m.

Select choir students from Norwalk, Indianola, Carlisle, Martensdale-St. Marys and S.E. Warren schools will be performing on stage alone and with Simon Estes; $4,000 is used for scholarships for graduating high school seniors of Warren County. Tickets for this event are available at https://tikly.co/NACC/RootsWings and are $17.50 each.

Please plan on attending this once-in-a-lifetime event and help your Norwalk/Warren County students!

The second opportunity to help Norwalk students is to attend the Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce fall event being held Friday, Nov. 15 at The Wright Place. The Norwalk Student Education Foundation will receive $2 of every ticket sold.

We will have live music, raffle drawings, food, drink samples and games to make it a fun night for all. Tickets are $20 before Friday, Nov. 8, $25 after that and at the door. You can get your tickets at Scott’s Foods, Fareway, City State Bank or at the Norwalk Chamber office. So gather your friends and join us.

City elections are Nov. 5
City elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting two forums so Norwalk residents can get to know the 10 candidates running for office. This will be an important election for the city of Norwalk, so I strongly encourage everyone to attend and listen to the candidates so you can make an intelligent vote. Our community has seen a lot of progress the past few years, and hopefully this trend will continue. The forums will be held on Monday, Oct. 21 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. and on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Fellowship Community Church at 6:30 p.m.  Thank you to Mayor Doug Pierce and council member Frank Curtis for your service to the community.

Remember to Shop Local.  Shop Norwalk.
