Q: I have heard that once you start going to a chiropractor, you have to keep going and going. What is the real truth?

A: The world is full of ugly rumors like that. Do you remember the one about worms being ground into hamburger meat at a well-known fast food chain? No one knows where such falsehoods start.

As for chiropractic doctors, they want to take care of your health problems as quickly as possible. After all, it is satisfied patients who refer their friends.

Most chiropractic cases are dismissed from care within 60 days; many in far less time. It all depends on the severity of the problem. Obviously, severe accident injury cases may require extensive rehabilitative care.

Also, please be aware that some persons are born with low-grade spinal defects and deformities. Others have suffered injury-induced permanent defects of the spine. Such defects make for a built-in weakness, which may not be fully correctable by any means available today. In those cases, a chiropractic doctor is duty-bound in recommending long-term supportive care… and the patients are usually grateful for the relief chiropractic brings.
