Ruth Harrigan, 89, passed away October 5, 2013. A gathering for family and friends will be Saturday, October 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. at her son Mike’s home, 1344 Rosa Drive in Altoona.
Born December 29, 1923 in Moulton, IA to Benjamin and Mary Dwight, Ruth was one of 10 children. She attended Roosevelt High School in Des Moines where she met Jim Harrigan. They were married May 19, 1946 and were blessed with two sons.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed playing cards and Skipbo, watching Monday Night Football and Dr. Phil. Ruth enjoyed sipping lemonade and breakfast at Dahl’s. She will also be remembered as a great friend to her daughter-in-law, Judy Roose and Judy Herrin and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Dwight and Mike (Diane); four grandchildren, Kelley (Paul) Molitor, Jeff (Mary) Harrigan, Kyle Harrigan and Mechelle Rosch; six great-grandchildren, Maggie, Anna, Joseph, Cassandra, Abbie, Alex and Eric; sister, Alma Jean Willis and sister-in-law, Goldie Dwight.
