Here at your library we are heading into the fall and there is so much to see and do. Information about the Adel Public Library and all of its clubs, events and programs is available on our website, www.adelpl.org, or you can follow us on our Facebook page or on Twitter at https://twitter.com/AdelLibrary.

The library is excited to partner with the Iowa Center for the Book, the State Library of Iowa and the Miniature Book Society by hosting its travelling miniature book exhibit throughout October. Visit the Miniature Book Society website, http://www.mbs.org/exhibit.html, for more information.

Rod Stanley will present a program called “Ghost Towns of Dallas County: just in time for Halloween. Stanley will talk on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. about towns that used to exist in Dallas County.

Our popular annual Friends of the Adel Public Library Bake Sale will be Friday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Goodies can be dropped off during normal business hours on Thursday, Oct. 24 or before 9 a.m. on Friday. On the same day we’ll be having our last garage sale of the season. The garage sale will also be open on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. All proceeds from these two sales are used by the Friends of the Adel Public Library for special projects and programs at the library.

The library has two monthly adult book clubs that are open to everyone. The Brown Bag Book Club meets on Thursday, Oct. 10 at noon to discuss bestselling author Adriana Trigiani’s book “The Shoemaker’s Wife.” Our Evening Book Club meets on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Join our Exercise Group three mornings each week and get your morning started in a fit and healthy way. The exercise group meets Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. Complete schedules are available at the information desk.

Fans of reading and a certain galaxy far, far away have reason to rejoice: Star Wars Reads Day in coming soon to a library near you. Star Wars Reads Day is “a day-long celebration of literacy and Jedi, Sith, Wookiees, and all things Star Wars.” Come to the library on Friday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. for an out-of-this-world Star Wars party.

We are having so much fun during our weekly kid’s activities. Every Magnificent Monday at 4 p.m. we’ll have a different activity; the first Monday of the month is Lego League, the second Monday is a Mad Science group, the third Monday we’ll play board games, and the fourth Monday is a Crafternoon. All school-aged kids are welcome to come and have fun at your library.

Story Time for ages 3- to 5-year-olds will meet on Mondays, Toddler Time for children 3 and younger will be held on Tuesdays, while Music Time for all preschoolers will meet on Thursdays.
