Helen R. (Brazil) Talbot, age 95, of Bloomfield, Iowa and a former Centerville resident, died Monday, September 30, 2013, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. She was born the daughter of Asa A. and Mary Maude (Beals) Price on June 28, 1918 in Russell, Iowa. She graduated from the Russell High School in 1936.
On October 1, 1943, Helen was united in marriage to Jack Brazil, they were later divorced, then in January of 1976, she was united in marriage to Paul Talbot in Centerville, Iowa. She owned a beauty shop in Centerville for 8 years called the “Beauty Box”, then in 1976 began working at St. Joseph Hospital in Centerville in the Dietary department for over 10 years. She also worked for a time at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville.
In death, Helen rejoins her, parents; husband, Paul Talbot; daughters, Rose Mary Brazil and Becky Valentine; brothers, Russell Price, Everett Price and Ralph Price; and a sister, Hazel Pierce.
She is survived by: her daughters, Brenda Cope and her husband, Thomas of Bloomfield, Iowa and Beth Davison and her husband, Harold of Centerville, Iowa; Eight grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren..
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with her son-in-law, Thomas Cope officiating. Burial will follow at the Russell Cemetery in Russell, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.
Memorials can be made to the Russell Cemetery or to the family and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home in Centerville.
