Nona L. Warford, age 95, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Casket bearers will be Steve Heuton, Brett Robinson, Allen Vermillion, Mick Heuton, Shawn Robinson, Craig Heuton, Chad Heuton, Zach Robinson, Andrea Polstalka, and Steven Polstalka. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.

Born on July 1, 1918 at on her family’s farm near Guthrie Center, Iowa, she was the daughter of Dallas and Lyle(McLuen) Nelson. She graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1935. Following high school she worked in a café. She was married to Leonard E. Warford on May 25, 1935 in Des Moines. Following their marriage the couple lived in Guthrie Center until Leonard went into the Army. They lived in Ames for a short time and then moved to California. Following his discharge they moved to Carroll in 1946. Nona was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends, dancing, shopping, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Nona is survived by her daughter Nyla Heuton of Carroll; four grandchildren: Steve Heuton and his wife Brenda of Platt City, Missouri, Lori Robinson and her husband Brett of Hudson, Wisconsin, Mick Heuton and his wife Patty of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Cari Vermillion and her husband Allen of Millington, Tennessee; six great grandchildren;five great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, her brother Gail Nelson and a son-in-law Dean Heuton.
