James Andrew Messner was born Oct 1, 1989 in Des Moines, Iowa to George Brown III and Margaret A. Messner. James attended Roosevelt High School and Graduated from North High School. He enlisted in the Marines at the age of 19, in 2009 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.

James leaves to cherish his memories: Father George Brown III, his Mother Margret Messner, One sister Jessica Messner and a brother Lucas Messner. Three half-siblings Anthony, Allison and Adam Brown, of Burlington, IA and two half-sisters Nancy and Tiffany Harrison and One Grand Mother Carol Messner of Des Moines, IA, and along with a host of many Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.

James was an outstanding and loving person. He was a man of few words but yet his life spoke for him. He was a good respectful son, and a caring brother and cousin.
James loved being physically fit and encouraging others to reach their full potential. He was a positive influence when it came to motivating others. James enjoyed being outside in nature, fishing, and spending quality time with his family and close friends.

Preceding him in death are grandparents Nancy Brown and George Brown of Meridian, MS and grandfather, F. Raymond Messner of Dallas Center, IA. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at Grandview Park funeral home. Private graveside services will be held Thursday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
