Annette M. Vanderheiden, age 80, of Auburn and formerly of Carroll passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 24 , 2013 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Julie Schaal officiating. Friends may call after 5:00 P.M. on Monday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin and soloist will be John Wagner. Casket bearers will be Annett’s grandchildren.
Born on July 15, 1933 in Jefferson, Iowa, she was the daughter of Anna Louise Barnes. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1951. She was married to her high school sweetheart James Vanderheiden on April 6, 1952 St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll by Fr. Victor Kolache. Annette worked for J.C. Penny, Dr. Roland Morrison, Stockart Shoe Store, and Lou Walsh Motors. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Annette enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, community theater, walking, swimming, and volunteering her time to help the needy.
Annette is survived by her husband James of Auburn, three daughters: Teri Salmons and her husband Michael of Columbia, Maryland, Joni Tomka and her husband Edward of Carroll, and Maria Pankratz and her husband Todd of Milaca, Minnesota; two sons: Rick Vanderheiden of Carroll and Tony Vanderheiden and his wife Amy of Pilot Mound, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Teresa Renze and her husband Cyril of Roselle, Iowa.
Annette was preceded in death by her mother, her grandfather, a grandson Christopher Salmons, and two granddaughters: Brittany Salmons and Liz Tomka.Information provided by: Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home
