Ruth, 78, passed away Wednesday, September 18 at Mercy Medical Center. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Brooks Funeral Care with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Her family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, at Brooks Funeral Care.
Ruth Elizabeth Hitchcock, the daughter of Worth and Ruth (McGary) Braucht, was born February 24, 1935 in Des Moines. She was united in marriage with Bill Hitchcock and raised a family of three boys: Greg, Brent and Scott. Ruth liked to garden and tend to her flowers. She also enjoyed the occasional margarita, especially if it came free at a casino. Spending time with her family was most important to Ruth.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Joy and her brother, Bill.
Ruth is remembered by her loving husband of 59 years, Bill; her sons: Greg (Karen), Brent (Luanne) and Scott (Dianne); her grandchildren, Jennifer and Lucas; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Food Bank of Iowa.
