Rose went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2013. She was born September 30, 1931 the 7th of 8 children to John and Anna (Spain) O’Brien on a farm South of Stuart, IA. After graduating from Menlo High School in 1949 she moved to Des Moines, where she worked as a waitress at the Terrace Cafe and met her husband, Richard Cox. Richard and Rose were united in marriage at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines and blessed with five children.

Rose spent many years working with her husband at both their family owned restaurant, The Village Restaurant in the Drake neighborhood and later in the commercial cleaning business Integra Service Corporation that Richard was a partner in. Rose loved being with her family and enjoyed many great times with them. She will be greatly missed. Rose is survived by her children, Daniel (Becky) Cox, Rick Cox, Janet Henter, Julie (Tim) Verdon, Deanna (Mark) Ingebretsen; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, John O’Brien and sisters, Rita Bishop, Martina Breheny, and Theresa Powell.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, John and Anna; sisters, Elizabeth Waltz and Mary Cook and brother, Wayne O’Brien.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 19th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 20th at St. Theresa Catholic Church with burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
