Sarah “Sally” C. (Moulton) Minkler, 84, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013, at Iles-Westover Chapel. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m.
Sally was born on July 8, 1929, in Lucasville, Ohio to Earl and Lucile (Moore) Moulton. She attended Oakwood High School in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University. Sally married Robert Minkler on April 10, 1954, in Ravenna, Ohio and they made their home in Akron, Ohio. They moved to Des Moines in 1960. Sally worked for Motor Ways Insurance and was a homemaker.
Sally was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was active in the Women’s Presbyterian Group. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed bowling, swimming, playing field hockey in college, and was a girl scouts leader for her daughters.
Sally will be missed by her husband of 59 years, Robert Minkler of Windsor Heights; Marilyn (Warren) Aldrich of Urbandale, Bob (Debra) Minkler of Urbandale, Barbara (John) Splinter of Hazel Green, WI, and Lucy (Jamie) Sipes of Carlsbad, CA; eleven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and brother, Thomas (Suzanne, deceased) Moulton of Gallipolis, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lucile Moulton; sisters, Martha Cunningham and Nancy Moulton; brothers, Chandler and David Moulton; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Moulton.
