Clara Srigley, age 61, of 2103 Crawford Street, died September 6, 2013, at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames.
Funeral services are Friday, September 13, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Open Bible with Rev. Dot Hasler officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Clara Kay Srigley was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on February 4, 1952, the daughter of Raymond and Guthrun (Gudmonsdottir) Ellis.
She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1969.
On June 17, 1973, Clara married Rick Srigley in Boone.
In 1973, the couple moved to Boone.
She was employed for 30 years at McFarland Clinic in Ames, first working as a department manager and then as Technical Analyst in the MIS Department. Due to health reasons, she retired in October of 2012.
Clara and husband Rick owned and operated the Boone Valley Brewing Co.
Clara enjoyed baking, especially cakes and pastries, flower gardening, family vacations to Colorado, and listening to piano music.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and grandson.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Rick of Boone; a daughter Danielle Crook and her husband Jon of Boone; two grandchildren, Kate and Hunter Crook of Boone; three brothers Saever Ellis of Bardstown, Kentucky, Paul Raymond Ellis and wife Elaine, John Ellis and wife Linda, all of Ogden; a sister Doris Gard and husband Dale of Ogden; mother-in-law Evelyn Srigley of Boone; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
Visitation continues Friday at the Church from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
