The West Des Moines Historical Society has worked hard to establish new partnerships in the community and is excited to join forces with the Historic Valley Junction Foundation and the Iowa Shakespeare Experience. With these new partnerships, we hope to create new and exciting educational and cultural events in West Des Moines.
“As the heart and soul of West Des Moines, Historic Valley Junction is excited to see the true birthplace of this community open increased hours in response to community demand.”
Jim Miller, Director of Historic Valley Junction Foundation
Come and experience this historic property with us! Jordan House is a nationally recognized Underground Railroad stop. James Jordan, the gentleman who built the house, was instrumental in moving the state capital to Des Moines, starting the banking and insurance industries here in Des Moines, founding Valley Junction, and bringing the railroad to the area. A visit to the house can be an educational experience, cultural event, or just a fun way to spend an afternoon!
Private tours, with a minimum fee of $40, may also be scheduled by calling Jamie Lamb at (515) 222-3642 or (515) 277-6652 or via email: email@example.com
