Gladys Leona Johnson Weaver, born February 20, 1927 in Osceola, IA, died September 4, 2013 at UnityPoint Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. She was surrounded by family and her best friend, Bob Waldner.
Gladys grew up in Osceola where she met and married Ollie Weaver on May 25, 1946. Gladys and Ollie moved to Des Moines in 1954 where they continued to raise their family.
She enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling with Ollie. After his death, she met Bob Waldner, who helped her to continue to enjoy her interests and ended up being a great friend and companion to the end.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ollie and a young infant daughter.
She is survived by sons, Raymond and wife Pong Weaver of Des Moines and Harold and wife Judy Weaver of Palm Bay, FL; daughter, Barbara Sparks of Denver, CO; brothers, George and wife Aletha Johnson of Belton, MO and Roy and wife Rose Johnson of Lamoni, IA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 10 at Brooks South Town Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive in Des Moines with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
