June 27, 1951 – September 1, 2013
As the sun set Sunday evening God sent his angels to take our beloved Larry home. He was a man of integrity, strong opinions, and if he loved you, you were loved forever. We will miss him but know that he is embracing this next great adventure in the presence of God, with his best fishing buddy, his father Leo Schuler.
Larry had been given the gift of a kidney transplant and was determined to share that gift. With the help of the Iowa Donor Network he has become a donor himself and would strongly encourage all of us to consider being a donor and to be sure your loved ones know of your wishes. There is no greater gift than the gift of life!
Lawrence Thomas Schuler was born on June 27, 1951, to Leo and Alice (Neenan) Schuler. He was the only son in a family of six children. Larry was reunited in heaven with his loved ones that went before him on Sunday, September 1, 2013.
Surviving him are his wife, Jenny. three daughters Ann Marie Thomas and her children, Brandon and Mya; Theresa (Jay) Queen, and their children, Devon, Mykala and Sydney; Maraline (David) Noack, and their children, Jonathan, Jordan, Kaitlynn and Braeden; two sons, Matthew (Heather) Savage and their children Rachel, Symantha, and Erika and Michael (Alicia) Savage, and their children, Matthew and Ethan and his daughter of the heart Melanie (Nate) Samples and their children, Shawn and Shelby.
He is also survived by four of his sisters, Ruth, Rosemary, Helen and Bette and Jenny’s parents, Fred and Ethel Sturdevant, and her siblings, Peggy (Rich) Wolfe, and Fred Sturdevant; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.
Additionally he is survived by Renee Minor, his living kidney donor, who gave us all additional years with Larry and to whom we will all be eternally grateful.
Larry was met in Heaven by his Father, Leo T. Schuler, his Mother, Alice Schuler, sister Dorothy and her husband “Jimmy”, infant daughter Anna Lisa and a host of other fishing and flying buddies!
