Pat Noyce

Patricia “Pat” Ann Noyce, passed peacefully into God’s care on August 27, 2013 following a brief, but brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Pat was born September 14, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas to Earl and Hazel Lytal. She graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College in 1951 and married Dick Noyce on June 17, 1951. Pat taught school for 2 years prior to becoming a “full time mom”, a job she truly enjoyed and at which she excelled.

Pat and Dick moved to the Des Moines area in 1958 where she raised her four children and became very active in school and community service. During her many years of tireless service, Pat served on several committees and community boards including PEO, La Sertoma, Wesley Acres Board, and Scouting. She was always very active in her church and always willing to lend a hand in a basement sale. For many years, she sang in the church choir. She was also an avid supporter of Drake University and the Boy Scouts of America. In 1981, she and Dick were named Drake University Parents of the Year.

Pat was always ready for travel or adventure. During her travels she saw many parts of the world including Australia, Africa, much of Europe and most of the United States. In 2010, Pat had some unfinished business from her and Dick’s bucket list, so she took her entire family for an unforgettable trip to the Galapagos Islands.

In 2005, Pat and Dick moved into the Deerfield Community. This quickly became their new home as they were close to many friends, old and new. She was always very busy with a game of bridge, her movie group or another field trip. She enjoyed keeping physically active, playing golf and lap swimming.

Pat will be remembered by her 10 grandchildren as a kind, sweet and gentle spirit and a great role model. They always looked forward to time with “Grandmommy and Granddad” be it on the water or perhaps the annual Christmas cookie decorating. An annual trip to Florida was always high on the list for a visit to the beach and their favorite BBQ.

Pat was preceded in death by Dick, her husband of 57 years; daughter, Kathy; her parents, Earl and Hazel Lytal and her sister, Vera Renick. Left to cherish the memories of a wonderful and brave woman are children, Jim (Shelley) Noyce, Ken (Julia) Noyce and Carol (Paul) Molino; grandchildren, Jaime, Lindsay (Justin Vaught), Dan, Cam, Bobby, Darcey, Tom, Andrea, Nicole and Jack and one great grandchild, Landon Vaught.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to The Deerfield Foundation, Westminster Presbyterian Church or The American Cancer Society. Our family expresses a deep sense of gratitude for the kind service provided by the Deerfield staff.

Visitation will be at Westover Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Friday, August 30. A funeral service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 11 am on Saturday, August 31. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
