Joyce O’Tool, age 62, of 1708-14th Street, died August 27, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Christian Church with Rev. Gary Sneller officiating. Following the service, her body will be cremated and burial of her cremains will be in Linwood Park Cemetery at a later date.
Joyce Ann O’Tool was born in Creston, Iowa, on August 2, 1951, the daughter of Theodore and Ebbie (Johnson) Bergloff.
She graduated from Boone High School in 1969 and attended Drake University.
On November 23, 1991, Joyce married Melvin O’Tool in Nashua.
From 1983 to 2011, Joyce worked as County coordinator for the Red Rock Community Action Center. She retired in September of 2011.
Joyce was a member of Tops 513, and the Human Service Council.
She enjoyed scrapbooking, antiquing for picture frames, cross stitching, crocheting, and flower gardening. She also enjoyed cooking and watching Wheel of Fortune.
She and Mel enjoyed traveling. Joyce especially enjoyed times with her grandchildren and her newborn great grandson Nicqueoli Jones. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, a stepson Brian O’Tool, and a son-in-law Brian Anschutz.
She is survived by her husband Mel of Boone; two daughters, Jo and husband Al Macal of Mason City and Jacquelyn Anschutz and fiancé Greg Haberkorn of Boxholm, step daughters Michelle O’Tool of Dayton and Devon O’Tool of Boone; two step sons Shawn O’Tool and wife Raylene of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Joey O’Tool of Woodbine; a brother Ted Bergloff and wife Shirley of Boone; a sister Pauline Halupnick and husband Larry of Traer; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Friday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
In memory of Joyce, memorials may be directed to the family.
