Labor Day Parade to celebrate the value and highlight the struggles of working people.
The South Central Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO will hold its annual parade on Monday, September 2, 2013, in honor of Labor Day to recognize the working men and women who are the foundation of progress and the cornerstone of Central Iowa’s growth.
South Central Iowa Federation of Labor’s members, workers, families and community leaders will come together in a display of pride to celebrate how the productivity of working families has powered the central Iowa’s area social and economic expansion and to call attention to the fraying fabric of the American Dream, which is under attack by a generation of stagnation, growing income inequality and failed public policy.
WHO: Workers and labor and community leaders of Des Moines and surrounding counties. Grand Marshall is U.S. Congressman, Bruce Braley and Parade Marshall is Skip Moore, Des Moines City Council Member.
WHAT: Labor Day: You’ve Earned it Parade.
WHEN: Monday September 2, 2013. Parade begins at 11 AM.
WHERE: Starting at the Iowa State Capitol going east on Grand Avenue to the State Fair Grounds.
