The Johnston Rotary club has announced that the Johnston Community Schools Foundation will be the recipient of its Fourth Annual Community Barbeque fundraiser, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5-7 p.m. at the Simpson Barn in Johnston.
The Johnston Community Schools Foundation will utilize the funds to support the Beginner Band Instrument Initiative, which provides band instruments to fifth grade students who would not normally be able to participate in the Johnston band program.
Students are allowed to use the instruments for up to three years, through seventh grade. Past funding has been used to purchase used instruments, make repairs to donated instruments and maintain the current inventory available for student use. Annually, 40-60 students benefit from this program across the school district. To date, about 150 kids have started in the Johnston band program that would not normally have been able to participate.
The Johnston Community Schools Foundation is dedicated to enhancing students’ education by providing funding for projects promoting excellence.
This year marks the fourth Annual Community Barbeque fundraiser for the Johnston Rotary Club. The fundraiser will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5-7 p.m. held at the Simpson barn, located at 6169 Northglenn Drive, Johnston, Iowa.
The Johnston Rotary invites you, your family and your friends to attend. For a donation of only $5.00 you can receive a hamburger or cheeseburger, side salads, water and a cookie, catered by the Johnston Hy-Vee!
