Sharon Haught passed away on August, 20, 2013 surrounded by her family. Services for Sharon will be held Saturday, August, 24, 2012 at 11a.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home with a visitation preceding, at 9 a.m.
Sharon Haught, daughter of Max and Nora Haught was born October 10, 1953 in Creston, Iowa. She graduated from Lincoln High school, and earned a Bachelor’s degree from DMACC in Human Services. Sharon devoted her life to keeping the community informed about the dangers of drug use and unprotected sex where she proudly earned the name “The Condom Lady”. She was a prominent figure in the gay community and worked at the Aids Project of Central Iowa for several years. Sharon made it her mission to open her home and her heart to struggling teens and adults and offer them the compassion she felt they deserved. Above all, she loved her children deeply and cared for her pets.
Left to cherish Sharon’s memory are her children; Lindsey (Jason) Holsinger, Tyler (Brandi) Haught-Foote, Amanda (Dave) Murphy, and Natasha Reed. Grandchildren; Journee, Zane, Lorelei and Quinn. Siblings; Becky White Feather (Chris Campbell), Lenore Ivie, Julie Martineau and Wileen Seeley.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
